Museum Day

Since Prince K had school vacation all week, we needed to think of something special to pass the time. So I loaded the boys up and we headed out to the museum for the day! We had a blast, and could have easily spent the entire day there, but quickly ran out of time and had to give in to our hungry bellies. Prince M even got out of the stroller to explore his surroundings... at first he was very confused!

But trust me, he settled in quickly.

Prince K loved the miniature aquariums set up around the room. Turtles and fish are his calling, I swear, and when he grows up I think he'll want to do a massive amount of scuba diving! I love this picture because it makes him look like he's in the fish tank!

They had a lot of strange contraptions, like this sound machine. You could rearrange the pegs in those large plastic disks, then push a button to let them spin around and somehow that created a sound pattern. The rhythm changed when you moved the pegs around. I think Prince L just liked pushing the buttons to make the disks stop or go.

I think the bubbles were the greatest hit though, they had 3 large tubs full of bubble solution, and different pieces of pipes, straws, and tubes to experiment with. Prince K was able to make giant bubbles with a hula hoop, while Prince L simply made a mess.

Some of the exhibits were a mystery to me, making me think I should have paid a little more attention in science class as a kid. This particular exhibit showed the kids how the water flow would change if you moved different magnet obstructions around the tank. Fortunately they didn't ask me for any explanations, they just continued to explore and soak everything in.

I had to post this video of Prince M in front of the mirror at the museum... he just loves to see all the "other" babies! What a wonderful age of discovery.

We can hardly wait to go back again, although the next time we're packing a lunch and spending the entire day. Oh yeah, and we plan to bring Daddy along next time too!
